Where are you starting from?

Two reasons people open a shop with us

Some are selling online for the first time. Others already sell, but the store gets in the way. Both end in the same place: a shop people can buy from in a few taps, on a phone, without second thoughts.

01 · First store

You want to start selling online

You have a product and a shop or a workshop, and now you want orders coming in while you sleep. You want to know what it costs, how payments reach your bank and how much work it is to run.

  • The right platform chosen with you, not sold to you
  • Payments, shipping and VAT set up properly from day one
  • Products, stock and prices you can change yourself

02 · Rescue & growth

Your shop is not selling

The store is live, but carts get abandoned, the mobile checkout is clumsy, the catalogue is hard to search, or the whole thing is slow and nobody has touched it in two years.

  • A free look at the store before you spend anything
  • Checkout, speed and product pages fixed in order of impact
  • A move to another platform only when it is really worth it
Services

Everything a store needs to open and keep running, from one developer who also answers the phone afterwards.

Custom online stores

A shop designed around your products and your customers, not a template with your logo dropped in. Clear product pages, a short checkout and a structure that still works when the catalogue grows.

Payments & checkout

Cards, PayPal, Apple and Google Pay, bank transfer: the methods your customers expect, tested end to end before launch. Fewer steps at checkout, fewer abandoned carts.

Product catalogue setup

Categories, variants, sizes and colours, stock, bundles and discounts, organised so people find the right product quickly and you can manage it without a manual.

Shipping, VAT & invoices

Shipping zones and rates for Malta, Gozo and abroad, VAT rules for EU sales, and invoices that come out right. The boring part that becomes expensive when it is wrong.

Feeds & tracking

Google Shopping and Meta product feeds, plus analytics and conversion tracking set up properly, so you know which products sell and which ads pay for themselves.

Platform migrations

Moving from a builder, an old store or another platform with products, customers, orders and your Google rankings intact, and redirects for every old link.

Multilingual stores

English and Italian, or any other pair, with product pages, checkout and emails translated and a language switch that does not break the cart.

Maintenance & support

Updates with a backup first, security and uptime checks, and a hand when you need a new product type or a seasonal promotion. Included in the monthly plan or quoted on its own.

Platforms

WooCommerce or Shopify?

Both run serious shops. The choice has less to do with features than with how you want to run the store day to day, and we make it with you before anything is built.

A longer comparison is in our article on Shopify vs WooCommerce.

  • WooCommerce. You own the store outright, there is no monthly platform fee and no limit on how far it can be customised. Best when the catalogue is unusual, the rules are yours or the shop is part of a bigger site. See WooCommerce development.
  • Shopify. Hosting, security and updates are handled for you for a monthly fee, so a straightforward shop can open quickly and stay simple to run. See Shopify development.
  • What we do not do. Sell you the platform that pays us best. If a simple Shopify store is right for your business, we say so, and the same goes the other way.
The local market

Selling online from Malta

Malta is a small market that shops online like a big one. In the 2025 Eurostat and NSO figures, 71.4% of people aged 16 to 74 had bought something online in the previous year, and Maltese shoppers buy from foreign sellers at twice the EU average.

That cuts both ways: your customers are already used to buying online, and they are used to buying from abroad. A local store wins on the things a foreign site cannot match.

What makes the difference here

  • Delivery people believe. Clear costs and times for Malta and Gozo, stated before checkout, beat a vague promise from a shop two thousand kilometres away.
  • A face and a phone number. Local buyers check who is behind the shop. Returns, a real address and someone who answers do more for conversions than any badge.
  • Two languages. English is the default, but a part of the market reads in another language and buys more readily in it.
  • Found before the giants. Product pages written for what people actually search, backed by SEO and, when it pays, ads.

All the numbers, with sources, are on our Malta e-commerce statistics page.

How we build

What makes a shop sell

A store is not a brochure with a buy button. These are the rules we apply on every build, and the first things we look at when a shop is not converting.

  • The checkout is the product. Every extra step, forced account or surprise cost loses orders. Guest checkout, the payment methods people already use, and the shipping price shown before the last click.
  • Tested on a phone, on mobile data. Most people will open your shop on a phone, in a queue, on 4G. That is where we test the product pages and the payment flow.
  • Trust, in writing. Returns, delivery times, VAT and who you are, said plainly on the page where the doubt appears, not buried in a policy nobody opens.
  • Numbers from day one. Analytics and conversion tracking set up before launch, so decisions come from what sells rather than from opinions.
No middlemen

You talk to the person building the shop

There is no account manager between you and your store. Andrea builds it and looks after it, from the first call to the first order and beyond. Ask for a change and you get a straight answer on whether it can be done, how long it takes and what it costs.

Who we work with

  • Shops and producers selling in person today and ready to take orders online, in Malta and abroad.
  • Stores that stalled with traffic but few orders, or a checkout that loses people on the last step.
  • Businesses on a builder paying every month for a store they do not own and cannot grow.

Need the shop inside a bigger site? That starts on our web design in Malta page.

How it works

From first call to first order

01

Call and catalogue

What you sell, how many products, how they vary, how you ship and who buys. That is what decides the platform and the price.

02

Written quote

Scope, timing and cost in writing before anything starts, including what is not included.

03

Build on a preview

The store is built on a private address you can open at any time, with products, payments and shipping set up as we go.

04

Test the money

Real test orders, every payment method, every shipping zone, on phone and desktop, before a single customer sees it.

05

Launch and after

Training so you can add products yourself, then maintenance if you want it and a hand with promotions, feeds and growth.

FAQ

E-commerce Development Malta: Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an online shop cost in Malta?
A custom store starts from €1200 one-off, or €129 a month plus a €299 setup fee, with maintenance and updates included and a 12-month minimum. Those are indicative figures for a standard shop. A large catalogue, a migration from another platform or custom features are quoted after we have seen what is involved, so the price is agreed before work starts.
WooCommerce or Shopify: which one should I choose?
WooCommerce when you want to own the store outright, avoid a monthly platform fee and keep the freedom to customise. Shopify when you prefer hosting, security and updates handled for you and the shop is straightforward. We go through it with you before building anything, and our article on Shopify vs WooCommerce compares the two in detail.
How long does it take to build an online store?
A shop with a normal catalogue usually takes two to four weeks, or more depending on how complex it is. The variable is almost always the products: photos, descriptions, prices and variants. The sooner that material arrives, the sooner the store opens.
Can you move my existing shop to another platform?
Yes. Products, customers, orders and content are migrated, old links are redirected to the new ones so the rankings you have already earned follow the shop, and nothing goes live until test orders pass on the new platform.
Which payment methods can my customers use?
Cards through Stripe or your bank, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and bank transfer if you want it. We set them up, test real transactions and make sure the money lands in your account before the shop opens.
Do you handle VAT and shipping rules?
Yes. Shipping zones and rates for Malta, Gozo and abroad, VAT rates for local and EU sales, and invoices with the right details. If your situation is unusual, we set up what your accountant tells us is correct.
Can I add products and change prices myself?
Yes, that is the point. At handover you get a training session and short notes, so adding a product, changing a price or running a promotion does not need a developer.
Can you also bring customers to the shop?
Yes. Product and category pages are written to be found, and from there we can work on SEO in Malta or on Google and Meta ads, depending on what your margins allow. A new shop with no traffic sells nothing, so this is part of the plan from the start.
